Relationship 911 Retreat

Three days away with Mark and Kelli Turansky to understand why you cycle conflict and learn the tools to fix it.

Thank you for your interest in the New Horizons Relationship 911 Retreat. Mark and Kelli Turansky are known for their practical, workshop style of counseling that helps couples understand what the problem is and how to fix it in a very short amount of time. Mark is regarded as “guy friendly,” which means men gravitate toward his teaching style because he can relate to where they may have difficulty understanding their partner. Kelli has a unique ability to connect with women so they feel understood and then guided toward success.

One common complaint we hear from couples who have tried traditional counseling is that the counselor “takes sides” with one spouse, which sabotages the safety and goodwill needed for lasting change. Mark and Kelli believe that all relationship problems are co-created, so they help each partner understand what they can do to change the overall dynamic.

How It Works

We start by developing awareness: awareness of what is REALLY going on, what your issues and baggage are, and how they are affecting your relationship. Then we move toward solutions. Now that we know the problem, what do we do about it?

Mark and Kelli teach a new way of having discussions called “Heart Talk,” designed to deal with conflict without falling into useless arguments. These practical tools help couples flourish in their quest for intimacy and closeness, and help rekindle the passion that has often faded over time in long-term relationships.

The Retreat Experience

  • Two counselors: you work with one male and one female counselor, a balance that lets each partner feel supported.
  • A real getaway: you stay in a comfortable vacation rental in the Nevada City area. Lodging and meals are part of the experience.
  • Three days: the first evening is a family-style dinner and a chance to share your perspectives. The second day is seminar-style teaching. The third day is hands-on coaching with the new communication tools.
  • Immersion: away from kids, email, chores and other distractions, you can focus only on your relationship by taking walks, talking in your room and relaxing together.

What Couples Say

Mark and Kelli brought passion and a wealth of knowledge in marriage counseling and life experience as they counseled us. There was no problem too big or small for them. We could trust in their expertise, and they made us feel cared for and safe at a time when we as a couple felt most vulnerable. It’s important to feel your counselors know what they are doing and care for you. Mark and Kelli are experts at this. Thank you for a wonderful three days! We appreciate you both.

Wife from Mililani

This was the kickstart my wife and I needed to get back in sync. It was not easy, but worth the fight. Heart Talk truly works. The lodging was comfortable and the food was fantastic!

Husband from Kailua

The curriculum was priceless. In just two days I have learned a lot about myself and my husband’s needs. The tools and teaching we received have brought hope back into my heart and into my marriage. We now have hope that our relationship of 34 years can be healed, as long as we choose to do the work. Mark and Kelli have a heart for serving others. Bonus: Kelli’s cooking is awesome!!!
